“Accelerate the North” brings digital training to more than 8,000 companies

Launched in March 2024 with the first Roadshow for Digitalization in the North in Braga, the initiative aims to facilitate the adoption of digital strategies and solutions that enable companies to attract new customers, increase sales, and simplify processes. The project's structure is based on awareness-raising initiatives and practical, specialized training sessions in areas such as digital tools, e-commerce, and digital marketing.

Developed by the Confederation of Commerce and Services of Portugal (CCP), the project relies on the involvement of more than a hundred local partners, which has allowed for comprehensive and effective coverage of the operation in the eight sub-regions of the North: Alto Minho, Cávado, Ave, Alto Tâmega, Porto Metropolitan Area, Tâmega e Sousa, Douro and Terras de Trás-os-Montes.

"We are talking about a truly massive digitalization operation, which is only possible with a very solid collaboration network at the regional level," emphasizes João Vieira Lopes, president of the CCP, the entity leading the consortium, in a statement.

In addition to training activities, the program also offers support to companies, including the development of a diagnosis of their digital maturity and transition plans, and the awarding of vouchers of up to 2,000 euros for the purchase of digital services.

To ensure equal access to the tools needed to strengthen the digital presence of their brands and businesses, the project also offers a free online training platform: Academia Digital Acelerar o Norte, designed for managers, entrepreneurs, and employees who were unable to participate in the training sessions or who wish to reinforce their acquired knowledge.

"Digitalization is for all businesses, from the largest to the smallest. We want to show that digital transformation is not a luxury, it's a necessity—and that small businesses can benefit as much or more than large ones," concludes João Vieira Lopes in a statement.

At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and local journalism. Access to most VTM news is (still) free, but it's not free; journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way to directly support A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our counterpart is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It means continuing to inform despite all contingencies; we never stop for a single day.
